FROM THE GOLDEN ERA TO THE DECLINE OF MIXTO ESPORTE CLUBE
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the trajectory of Mixto Esporte Clube, addressing both the moments of glory and sporting achievements that marked its "golden era," as well as the factors that influenced its decline. Oral history was used as the methodology, and through narrative interviews, 9 subjects shared their experiences with the club. Content analysis was employed to understand not only the historical facts but also the feelings and personal interpretations. The results show that Mixto's "golden era" was not just a series of sporting successes, but a period of intense community mobilization and cultural identification. The study also highlights how infrastructure and the construction of the "Verdão" stadium, played a central role in this process, becoming a symbol of progress and a recreational place for the population of Cuiabá. The club's decline is attributed to a combination of factors, including management problems, loss of the stadium, the advent of television, departure of icons, and changes in the format of the Brazilian Championship. The study demonstrates the ability of football to shape and reflect the culture and identity of a community, highlighting the significant role the club played in the social and cultural life of Cuiabá, transcending the boundaries of sport to become a central element in the city's history.
