Abstract

A vision of the turn of the century Portuguese art, from the decline of Naturalism to the rise of Decadentism. The painting of Columbano and the fiction of Raul Brandão as typical cases of the turn of the century Portuguese scenario. Colors and sounds in the composition of the demise of life/village scenes. Antero de Quental and Húmus: intersemiotic dialogues in the composition of Portuguese demise images.

    Doutor em Literatura Portuguesa pela UFRJ e professor desta disciplina na mesma instituição, é autor de ensaios sobre Literaturas africanas e portuguesa, publicados no Brasil, em Angola e em Portugal. Tem formação superior em Música, também pela UFRJ, e vem desenvolvendo estudos na área intersemiótica e interdisciplinar, interessados especialmente nas relações da Literatura com outras manifestações artísticas, sobretudo com a Música.
