Although several authors have already written about Machado de Assis’s short story “The Mirror: a sketch for a new theory of the human soul”, in this paper we propose a rereading of this tale from some notions of the French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan, especially in respect to the “mirror stage” and its implications in the world we live in.Downloads
