Abstract

With the evolution of direct adhesive restorative materials and minimally invasive restorative techniques, it is possible to close diastemas effectively and aesthetically in a single session. This study was a clinical report about dental bleaching and closure of diastema between teeth 12 and 13, 22 and 23 of a young patient. The restorative planning was aided by previously waxed study models, and the restorative technique of choice was the direct composite resin with the assistance of a condensation silicone matrix/guide for the preparation of the palatal faces of the restorations. With adequate planning, the treatment aims at the aesthetic solution of the smile, within the principles of maximum preservation of the dental tissues.

Key words: diastema, composite resins, operative dentistry.
