This article aims at studying the social hierarchy of gender reflected in the Brazilian parliament. A historical and political acknowledgement of gender inequality in the dynamics of labor relations, especially in the occupation of positions of greater social prestige, is fundamental for the understanding of the existing gender asymmetries in the postulation and occupation of representational positions. In this work, that will be an issue concerning the professional hierarchy through the element, as well as one of its origins: the female underrepresentation in legislative houses, taking as a starting point the Brazilian chamber of deputies.
