Abstract

This systematic literature review (SLR) analyzes the main challenges of logistics operations in the hospital supply chain (SCM) and the mitigation alternatives proposed in the scientific literature between 2020 and 2025. Articles were selected from recognized databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar) that explicitly address logistical difficulties and coping strategies in the hospital context. The recurring challenges include inventory management, demand forecasting, purchasing processes, distribution, information technology, and resilience to risks. The COVID-19 pandemic intensified vulnerabilities, driving innovations such as digitization, process automation, and collaborative partnerships. The most cited mitigation alternatives involve the adoption of intelligent systems, data integration, collaborative planning, and strengthening risk management. The analysis revealed advances in logistical resilience, and it is concluded that hospital SCM demands adaptive approaches, based on evidence and multisectoral collaboration to overcome growing challenges and ensure the continuity and quality of healthcare services.
